Lumbar disc surgery in Iran

Lumbar disc surgery in Iran

Lumbar disc surgery in Iran (laminectomy in Iran) / The best neurosurgeon specialist for laminectomy surgery in Iran / the best specialized neurosurgeon hospital for spine surgery

The spine is composed of a number of bones called vertebrae. In fact, the spine is an important part of the human body's skeleton and plays a protective role for the spinal cord and plays an essential role in the movement, bending, straightening and connecting to the brain. Our back is made of five bone vertebrae, among the vertebrae there are cartilage buildings called lumbar discs.

The lumbar disc causes movement and sensory problems if it is protruding (medically known as hernia). Most of these abnormalities occur at the interval of L4-L5 or L5-S1 (lower back vertebrae).

As we age, these plates are eaten and the likelihood of protrusion increases (the reason for the bending of the back is the corrosion of the discs)

What causes lumbar disc?

Lumbar disc disease from a young age onwards can be caused by dehydration of these discs, but some problems can exacerbate it, such as:

- Injury, accident or blow to the back

- High weight

- Osteoporosis

- Pregnancy

- Not sitting properly

- Very heavy activities

- Stress

Lumbar disc, which may suddenly be caused (such as falling from height and tearing the disc and protruding) or gradually (due to incorrect activity and lifestyle).

What are the symptoms of the lumbar disc?

- Weakness in muscles, cramps and gazing of the soles of one or both legs

- Sensory or motor problems in the extremities

- Urinary or fecal incontinence

- Paralysis in severe cases

- Severe pain

How is the diagnosis of the lumbar disc?

- Through radiology and the use of CT SCAN and MRI

- myelogram (a contrast agent supplied into the points and photographed afterwards)

EMG (electromyography) or muscle strip: In general term that examines the reaction of muscles to electrical activities and normally with spinal stimulation examines muscle strength.

Lumbar disc surgery procedures:

Microscopic lumbar surgery: With a 1-2 cm incision and a microscope and camera, this inserts into the site and the protruding disc is removed and does not require hospitalization.

Endoscopic lumbar surgery (MIS TLIF): With a 1-2 cm incision, the disc is removed and the space between the two vertebrae is filled with a bone graft and the two vertebrae are welded together.

Closed disk operation methods: A needle is taken into the disc and the crushed disc is then removed and used for mild cases.

In open lumbar disc surgery, the need for hospitalization is cut on the vertebrae and parts of the disc or the entire one are removed or cd insertion is performed if needed and an implant prosthesis is placed instead of the disc.

After the surgery, the lumbar disc will insert a tube at the site of the operation to drain the discharge, which will be removed after a few days.
